There is nothing sweeter than caramel and chocolate dipped pears served with love on a holiday dinner, especially in autumn and winter. Easy and simple to prepare, this lovely dessert is so rich and very delicious! Here is the recipe:
- 6 pears (with a stem), rinsed and dried
- 3 tablespoons water
- 1 package (14 oz.) caramels
- 8 oz. chocolate, roughly chopped
- 4 oz. (around 1 cup) chopped hazelnuts – or other nuts of your choice
Instructions:
- Use a wax paper to line a baking tray, then grease it and set aside.
- In a medium saucepan, pour the water and add the caramels, and set over low-medium heat. Stir constantly until you get melted and smooth caramel.
- Dip around ¾ of the pears in the caramel mixture. Place on prepared baking tray and repeat with remaining pears. You can use a spoon to coat the pears. Refrigerate the tray for one hour.
- Apply chopped hazelnuts in a mound onto a baking sheet or cutting board. Melt chocolate in the microwave (30 seconds interval) or over a double boiler.
- Dip bottom 1/2 of the fruit into melted chocolate, then apply bottom of pears into the middle of the mound of nuts, lightly push hazelnuts up around 1/3 of pear.
- Arrange pear on the tray; repeat the process with remaining fruit.
- Refrigerate until serving, at least one hour.
Enjoy!
