So, we are offering you a list of the most effective and proven natural remedies for pink eye that won’t cause you any additional irritation, eye issues or overall health problems.

  1. Warm water and salt

My close friend, Rita shared this treatment with us. It helped her 7 years old son and she have not been to the doctor because of pink eye since – that was 3 years ago.

  • Just make a mixture of some warm water and a pinch of salt and wash your eyes several times during the day.

This eye remedy is very effective.

  1. Chamomile tea teabags

Most of our Your Health Tubers–friends, shared the experience of using teabags as a home remedy. All you need is chamomile tea teabags!

The earlier you start with this treatment the quicker you’ll get the results. The procedure is really simple:

  • Make a cup of chamomile tea by using teabags. Let your tea cool down a little, so that it’s still warm but not hot that it’ll burn. Remove the teabag from the cup but don’t squeeze. Put the tea bag on the affected area and leave for 5-10 minutes. The tea will get into your eye and will help in the healing.

You can also use black tea teabags. It has very similar soothing effects like the chamomile tea.

  1. Honey

I personally read a lot about honey as a natural remedy for eye problems in different health magazines that we receive on our address.

Honey have demonstrated anti-inflammatory, antiviral and antibacterial properties, and Manuka honey is particularly powerful.

Hence, my husband decided to try this remedy when he got eye infection on our New Year’s trip to Vienna, Austria. He was not in the mood at all and refused to take photos because of his pink eye. Then, I suggested him to put some honey in it, in order to feel better and continue to have fun on the trip. Fortunately, we found organic honey on one of their amazing Christmas markets. The result was more than pleasant! Here is the recipe:

  1. Raw milk

Breastmilk is a popular natural remedy for pink eye. I was surprised when I found out that my mother used breastmilk to treat my eye infection when I was a child.  So, if there is a breastfeeding in your home, you should try this proven remedy.

However, you can also use raw goat or cow milk. It works the same way because is loaded with probiotics that boost immunity, just like a human breastmilk.

  • Place 1-2 drops of breastmilk (or raw goat or cow milk) in your eyes a few times per day.

If you couldn’t find raw milk in your local area, you can use yogurt or kefir as a replacement.

Conclusion:

Natural remedies for pink eye can keep your eye free of drainage and reduce your pain. These remedies will eliminate your infection in just 2 to 3 days maximum. If you still have the eye infection, you need to visit a doctor immediately.

Because pink eye can be really contagious, we recommend you to treat both eyes even if only one has an infection. If you wear contacts, you need to remove them and wear glasses until the eye infection has gone away completely.
